7 Ways to Get Creative With Your FEVO Offers for Valentine’s Day
From festive bundles to mascot 'grams, here's how our partners are engaging fans on February 14th
No one knows how to love quite like a sports fanatic. Except for, well, another sports fanatic.
So when you get two of those fans together — like together together — you’ve got yourself a highly combustible romantic situation. A situation that any smart sports organization should be looking to capitalize on come February 14th, aka Valentine’s Day.
Need some ideas as to how to go about that? You’ve come to the right place.
Across the FEVO landscape, dozens of your peers are currently launching Valentine’s Day Offers that run a gamut of use cases, themes and audience types: in-season, out-of-season, tickets, non-ticket items, dinner dates, mascot grams, even events and activations for single people — there are literally hundreds of ways to engage your fans for the upcoming holiday. Below, you’ll find seven of our favorites to help you get started.
1. Give them a discount.
Let’s start with some low-hanging fruit: discounted tickets. You can go with holiday-themed pricing (like the the Belmont Bruins offering 2 tickets for $14), a Valentine’s Day flash sale (like Inter Miami CF, who will host theirs from February 11th through 14th) or just offer a trusty BOGO (read: Kennesaw State Men’s Basketball or the Chicago Blackhawks). Heck, it doesn’t even need to be that complicated — the Orlando Magic are simply knocking 35% of gate prices for multiple ticket tiers for their game against the Knicks on February 14th.
2. Bundle up.
You can get tickets any night of the year. Why not make Valentine’s Day feel a little more special by pairing those tickets with some other goodies fit for a pair of sweethearts? The Columbus Clippers, Belleville Senators and Colorado Eagles all combine tickets with concession vouchers and/or parking and special merch for their Valentine’s Day Offers, while the WBS Penguins partner with a local florist to dole out a dozen roses with each pair of tickets for their Sweetheart Package.
3. Put your mascot to work with some ticket-grams.
You’ve heard of a candygram? That old-timey holiday tradition where candy is hand-delivered with an accompanying message to someone’s home or office? Plenty of FEVO partners — including the Columbus Clippers, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Spokane Indians and Trenton Thunder — riff on that setup by enlisting their team mascots to deliver special ticket bundles for Valentine’s Day.
4. Or go even more public, with an in-game activation.
Some fans like to remain anonymous. Others love nothing more than seeing their shining face up on the Jumbotron or standing at center court, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to make that happen. For inspiration, look no further than the Miami Heat, who offer both Scoreboard Message and special Proposal Packages on Valentine’s Day, or the Motor City Cruise, whose V-Day package includes the opportunity for paramours to head down to the court for some post-game free throws.
5. Host a special giveaway.
This idea comes from the Air Force Academy’s Men’s Ice Hockey Team, where Valentine’s Day fans who are on a date can upload a photo to the Falcons app in order to be automatically entered into a giveaway for a gift card to Pikes Peak Brewing.
6. Throw an in-stadium dinner party…
This is a great way for teams that aren’t currently in-season to put their stadium or arena to use on Valentine’s Day. Both the Winston-Salem Dash and Hartford Yard Goats are inviting fans to make a reservation for a multi-course dinner taking place within their ballparks — you can even book a private suite for a truly intimate experience!
7. …or think outside the box with a V-Day-themed event of your choosing.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t only have to be for couples. If you’re looking to host a more inclusive shindig, take a lesson from the Omaha Storm Chasers, who are inviting fans out for a game of Valentine’s Day Music Bingo on February 13th. Remember: your fans care about your team 365 days a year, and using your spaces creatively in the off-season is a great way to remind them that those feelings are reciprocated. And when it comes to reciprocating feelings, there’s no better day to do it than the Feast of St. Valentine.
